Hotel Chocolat Valentine’s Review & Giveaway

Recently I was asked if I would like to try a box of chocolate from the Hotel Chocolat Valentine’s Day range, of course I said yes. I love chocolate and Hotel Chocolat is one of my favourite places to buy a special treat either to share with my boyfriend of if I need cheering up. I was sent a box of Classic Lovely Hearts to try and one lucky person will be able to win a box by entering the giveaway at the end of this post.

There are 6 chocolates in the box with 2 of each flavour. The chocolates are caramel praline, salted almond praline and lemon berry tart. This box is just the right size for sharing with a special person or for a little self indulgence. I was well behaved and shared the chocolates with my boyfriend and we made a couple of notes on what we thought of each of the chocolates. The caramel pralines were smooth and creamy with just the right amount of nuttiness. My boyfriend’s response to these was simply “mmmmm!” and they were his favourites. Next we tried the salted almond pralines, I really enjoyed these as the level of salting was just right and really enhanced the flavour of the almonds. He wasn’t quite so convinced but then again he’s not a fan of salted caramel either. Finally I had both of the lemon berry tart chocolates because even though he loves white chocolate he doesn’t like lemon in chocolate. I’m the reverse, I’m not a big fan of white chocolate unless it’s very good quality as I find it a bit sickly sometimes but I do love lemony fillings. These were sharp yet fruity from the mixed berry flavour and complemented the sweet chocolate well.

    My favourite chocolates are caramels. Sometimes salted sometimes not 😛 but preferabbly a runny ribbon going through the chocolate!

    I adore anything with a truffle centre and crisp chocolate shell. Hotel Chocolat do amazing chocolates – they aren’t in my life nearly enough though!
